Make sure you have one of the following

  • Valid Japanese Driving Licence
    Issued by the public safety commissions in Japan
  • Valid International Driving Permit (IDP) based on the Geneva Convention 1949
    Issued by an authorised body in one of the signatory countries of the Geneva Convention in the last one year.
  • Valid Driving Licence issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Slovenia, Monaco, or Taiwan, with a Japanese translation of the licence


Making the reservation

Make your reservation using our online form.

You will need to provide

  • Your name
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Pick-up location, date and time
  • Drop-off location, date and time
  • Car category
  • Number of passengers
  • Optional add-ons and requests (Child seat, ETC card reservation etc.)

Once your reservation is submitted, you will receive an email acknowledging your reservation request with your reservation details.

Please allow 3 working days for us to confirm your booking.

When your booking is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email with your confirmation number.


Getting to the rental shop

At the airport:

Look for the Toyota Rent a Car counter at the airport


Show the counter staff your confirmation email.

If you do not have the confirmation email with you, please provide your name and confirmation number.

If the car rental shop is not next to the airport, the staff will guide you to a designated pick-up point to take a shuttle bus to the shop.


*Note: Some locations with both international and domestic airports may have separate rental shops for each. Please ensure that you are at the correct branch for pick-up/return. Failure to pick-up/return the car at the correct shop may incur additional charges.


At the station:

Look for the Toyota Rent a Car shop near the station.

Use the directions provided in the confirmation email to get to branches located away from the station.


Renting the car

Present the

  • confirmation email
  • your Local Driving Licence
  • International Driving Permit (IDP) (or Driving Licence with translation)
  • and passport to the staff.

If you have a Japanese Driving Licence, you do not need to show your passport.

All drivers need to register by presenting their Local Driving Licence, IDP and passport.

Sign the Terms & Conditions of the rental contract.

Check the car for any damages and see that it is in good working condition.

Sign an acknowledgement form on the condition of the car.

You can now depart with your rental car!


Returning the car

Fill up the petrol tank before you return the car at the shop. Remember to keep the receipt to show to the shop staff.

Return the car at the drop-off location you designated when making the reservation.

Remove all your belongings from the car.

The staff will check the car for any damages.

Make any final payments necessary (eg. ETC toll fee payments).
