Ishikawa is a great place for a drive trip. It’s got beautiful coastal and mountain views, lots of culture and nature, and a ton of good food! You’re excited to make a trip there yourself, but… Where should you go? And how do you get there?

How to use the Ishikawa Road Trips guidebook

 

First, pick out the places you would like to visit. Then, plan your route to find the best way to visit all of them. The overall map is a good reference to see where all the places are in relation to each other.

 

 

While the area maps give you a closer look at each region.

 

 

 

*Tip*: For long driving distances, don’t forget to plan rest stops in between! The Michi no Eki road stations are good places to stop at.

 

Unless you have a lot of time to spare, you may not be able to cover every place you plan to visit. On the flip side, you might also find some new places you didn’t think of to stop by along your route! Plan your time well using the opening hours and links listed with each sightseeing spot. Don’t forget to check the travelling times between places using Google maps, or other similar applications!

 

*Tip*: Sunset and sunrise times vary according to season, so do check when it will get dark and plan accordingly!

 

When all your planning is done, it’s just a matter of keying in the Mapcode provided for where you want to go and driving there!

 

Of course, if planning your own itinerary is too much trouble, you can always use the recommended itineraries in the book or adapt them to suit you!

Ishikawa and beyond

 

With a car at your disposal, the road is the limit to where you can go! When you are done exploring Ishikawa, head over to neighbouring prefectures to see some of their sights too. With places like the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Shirakawago and Gokayama, Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum and Tateyama Alpine Route all just a drive away, you can easily use Ishikawa as a base to explore the surrounding regions.
